KODANSHA has released a new edition of AKIRA in Japan. This time presenting the colored version of the manga with Japanese texts for the very first time. This sixth book collects the same episodes of the original black and white volume AKIRA 6. Each of this six volumes of SŌ TEN'NENSHOKU AKIRA  (総天然色AKIRA) come in a transparent slipcase.

Katsuhiro Otomo's epic manga AKIRA started its serialization in black and white in Young Magazine (ヤングマガジン) on December 20, 1982. The international version colored by Steve Oliff was first published by Marvel Epic Comics in color in the US in a 38 paperback issues that were collected in Japan in twelve box sets as ŌRU KARĀ KOKUSAI BAN AKIRA (オールカラー国際版 AKIRA). Each set included a booklet with the English-to-Japanese translation.

OTOMO's FINAL NOTE
I began serializing in 1982 and finished drawing the final page around 1991. The illustrations in Volume 1 and Volume 3 already look different, and even when I took breaks for animation work, my drawings changed. Furthermore, the additional drawings in the final volume also differ. Considering my age at the time, I believe I discovered new techniques, struggled with ideas, and enjoyed growing while drawing. To what extent is this growth, and at what point does it become mere transformation? Despite aging, I only notice my immature and incomplete aspects, but I suppose I have no choice but to keep striving to fill the remaining gaps in my knowledge.

Katsuhiro Otomo's epic manga AKIRA started its serialization in black and white in Young Magazine (ヤングマガジン) on December 20, 1982. The international version colored by Steve Oliff was first published by Marvel Epic Comics in color in the US in a 38 paperback issues that were collected in Japan in twelve box sets as ŌRU KARĀ KOKUSAI BAN AKIRA (オールカラー国際版 AKIRA). Each set included a booklet with the English-to-Japanese translation.
