●DESIGN SUPERVISION● NHK SPECIAL TOKYO REBORN

Katsuhiro Otomo has been involved as design supervisor of the title image of the upcoming NHK documentary series about the evolution of Tokyo titled NHK SPECIALl TOKYO REBORN (ＮＨＫスペシャル シリーズ「東京リボーン」). To be broadcasted over the course of two years from December this year, the series is a large-scale program that depicts the evolution and reproduction of Tokyo under the view of the world of "AKIRA". Shoji Yamashiro the original composer of AKIRA soundtrack  is in charge of the theme music of the program.

The first episode titled "Challenge to the Bay Area Futuristic City" will be broadcasted on December 23rd at 9 pm in Japan. In the official announce website a 2-minute video was published as well as some comments by Katsuhiro Otomo and Shoji Yamashiro.

●TV PROGRAM● NICHIYŌ BIJUTSUKAN 'BRUEGEL × KATSUHIRO OTOMO' (日曜美術館「ブリューゲル×大友克洋」)

The 44th issue of NHK's Nichiyō Bijutsukan (日曜美術館) TV program focuses on 'A trip to feel Bruegel in Antwerp, Belgium' (ベルギー・アントワープへ　ブリューゲルを感じる旅). Kastuhiro Otomo's contribution to the TOWER OF BABEL exhibition that is taking place in Tokyo, with the illustration INSDE BABEL is a central element of the 45 min long feature.

BS Manga Yawa (BSマンガ夜話), a late night talk show about manga that in this first episode was focused on Katsuhiro Otomo's Dōmu (童夢) was released today on DVD. This program was originally aired in 1996-VIII-20 in NHK-BS.

The first episode of BS MANGA YAMA (BSマンガ夜話), a manga related night talk TV show that starter broadcasting today in NHK-BS focuses on Katsuhiro Otomo's Dōmu (童夢) manga that was published back in the 80's.

NHK has aired today two ETV special programs on the heritage of Osamu Tezuka. The second one TEZUKA OSAMU NO ISAN: ATOM TO AKIRA  ～Otomo Katsuhiro ga kataru Tezuka  Osamu～ (手塚治虫の遺産 アトムとAKIRA～大友克洋が語る手塚治虫～) featuring Katsuhiro Otomo, follows him visiting the workplaces of Osamu Tezuka and commenting on his works, it also features talks with Osamu Akimoto (秋本治), Fujiko F Fujio (藤子F不二雄) and Rintaro (りんたろう)
