TOYOTA has collaboated with various artists and brands in a series of comercials for the CH-R model with the tagline 'CROSSOVER THE WORLD'.  Katsuhiro Otomo directed the segment 'NEO TOKYO 2017 ver.' that revisits the futuristic Tokyo city as seen in his 1988 movie AKIRA.

Katsuhiro Otomo has directed the KOORAKUEN YUUENCHI: LUNA PAAKU (後楽園ゆうえんち: ルナパーク) commercial aired on TV for the Japanese amusement park KOORAKUEN YUUENCHI (後楽園ゆうえんち). Otomo's illustrations are also been used in the printed campaign. Otomo's design for this commercials are collected in the book KABA 2.

Katsuhiro Otomo has drawn twelve illustrations for the NISSAN 'FEEL THE BEAT' brochure. The illustration are collected in pages 40~41 of the artbook KABA.

Katsuhiro Otomo made the character designs of the Bulldog featured in the HONDA CITY TURBO II commercial. Junko Osaka made the final model based on his designs. The commercial was aired in Japan in 1984
