The first illustrations book by Katsuhiro Otomo covers the character designs he did for the animation movie Genma Taisen (幻魔大戦) also known as Harmagedon, directed by Rintaro (りんたろう), released on Japan on march 12, 1983. The book contains many color illustrations and plenty of sketches all by Katsuhiro Otomo.

OTOMO's explanation on the involvement on the project
I took on this job above all because I was drawn to Genma Taisen. There was also the fact that the director specifically asked for characters that weren’t by Shotaro Ishinomori or Noriyoshi Saitō, but that was another reason.
Of all the various versions of Genma Taisen, I really love the Magazine version—the Genma Taisen created jointly by Hirai and Ishinomori. It’s a story about people with psychic powers, and there still hasn’t been anything better than that, has there? I thought that one was the most spectacular and the most interesting.
But that wasn’t the only reason I joined the staff. I had been drawing manga all by myself for so long, so the biggest reason was that I wanted to take part in working as part of a team.
And, besides that, I was also getting just a little tired of manga…
