●BOOK ● AKIRA ART OF WALL

Parco has published a box set to conmmemorate the AKIRA ART OF WALL exhibition by Kosuke Kawamura and Katsuhiro Otomo. The box set collects the entirety of the collage that was installed on the temporary fence wall during the rebuilding of Shibuya PARCO. The large panorama of 22.7 meters in length is includes in three foldout books.

The fourth volume contains photographs by Daisuke Takamura,  who documented this project that took place from May 2017 to August 2019. It also includes interviews and dialogues between Katsuhiro Otomo and Kosuke Kawamura who have also designed the box set.

The box set was originally available only at the exhibition that took place form November 22 to December 16 at Shibuya’s PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO, and was released in book stores on December 20th.

Kodansha and Glénat will publish this year an extended edition of the TRIBUTE TO OTOMO catalogue created for the exhibition that took place last year in the 'Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême'. This new edition includes all the illustrations featured in the exhibition plus a great amount of new ones by artist such as Masamune Shirow, Masakazu Katsura, Tsutomu Nihei and Katsuya Terada. Galerie Glenát has published a catalogue that collects all the illustrations shown in the TRIBUTE TO OTOMO exhibition at the 'Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême'. The cover features the brand new illustration of Kaneda and his bike drawn by Otomo himself. This catalogue was released as a limited edition of 999 numbered copies.

Bandai Visual has released a book that covers the process that went behind the making of BUKI YO SARABA (武器よさらば) a short story by katsuhiro Otomo published as a manga in 1981-XI-16 in Young magazine, that was turned into an animated short film directed by Hajime Katoki's (力トキ ハジメ) as part of the omnibus SHORT PEACE project released in 2013 and already available in Blu-ray and DVD. The book also includes the original manga by Katsuhiro Otomo and in case you don't own SHORT PEACE, it was also released a limited bundle that includes the short film in Blu-ray.

●BOOK● OTOMO KATSUHIRO ARTWORK KABA 2 1990-2011 Illustration Collection



KABA 2 is the compilation of Katsuhiro Otomo illustrations from 1990 to 2011.  More than two decades ago the the first retrospective art-book by Otomo was released; KABA published in 1989 by Kodansha covered Otomo's first two decades of illustration works 1971 to 1989. This second volume is the continuation of his work as illustrator. It also covers some of  his manga works and animation projects as well as TV Commercials and various products designs.

Three short stories previously released in Young Magazine are contained in the page 53 and from the page 87 to 100 of this book.
